Maddie Penko: Before and After Weight Loss

A few years ago I was pretty much wandering in the dark…clinging onto popular advice and strategies. I was always searching for the 1 solution that would solve all my problems.

I was a little over weight, had terrible acne and my confidence was seriously lacking. I was constantly comparing myself to other people and was just in a negative place altogether.

Even when I was doing good for a while, something would throw me off, I’d give into temptations and I’d end up back where I started & feeling defeated.

It was really frustrating because I just kept running in circles and was getting no where.

After YEARS of scouring the internet, reading and researching different diets and nutrition theories, spending money on programs, shifting my mindset, going vegan to vegetarian to a 7-day juice cleanse, I finally got to where I wanted to be.

Through all the frustration, I remember wishing I had an all-knowing genie that could just tell me what to do and answer all of my questions & give me results.

I wish I had someone to go to.

Instead, I had to learn things the hard way…and my transformation took waaaaay longer than it should have and it was waaaaaay harder too.

Somehow during my self-study, I came across the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and learned about these things called Health Coaches – professionals who help other people change their behaviour and reach their wellness goals. “WOW,” I thought, “THESE were the genies I had been missing!”

My life changed in so many profound ways not just physically but also my inner world too. I wanted to help other women experience the same positive changes I had such as…

– actually enjoying getting ready and trying on outfits for a night out
– feeling comfortable enough in my own skin to play volleyball in my bikini at my friend’s pool party
– and feeling good and energetic enough to do more FUN stuff with my time like hiking and traveling

After researching IIN and speaking with the admissions team, I decided to enrol in the 1 year health coach certification program. 12 months later & BOOM – I’m a certified Health Coach!

    YES I’m a certified health coach and YES I’m a certified fitness instructor, but I’m no health freak. I believe in a healthy 80/20 balance and that’s what I help women lean into: 80% healthy and 20% freedom of choice.

    I Provide Professional Services.

    I help you change your behaviour and adopt healthy lifestyle habits to become the woman of your dreams. I am not affiliated with any other companies, I do not sell shakes, dvds or pills. I do not receive commission on anything I recommend. I paid thousands in tuition, went to school for 12 months and earned my official Health Coach certificate from the largest nutrition school in the world. I only sell things I create myself and things I truly believe in.

    In my health coaching practice, you will be developing a lifestyle that is largely based on holistic principles and no tricks, gimmicks or magic bullets. You will develop an inner sense of what feels right to your body and unique needs. Aside from a few recommendations of supplements that I have experienced profound results with, you’ll be doing it the old fashioned way – eating right and exercising regularly!

Professional Bio

Maddie studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the largest nutrition and certification program in the world. During her training, she studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. Her teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

Maddie is also a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist. She completed the CanFitPro course where she studied kinesiology, muscle and skeletal anatomy, energy systems, musicality and fitness training principles. She loves teaching group fitness classes and looks forward to learning new styles and variations.
